Terminology Glossary

Fluoropolymer Lining Material

New-PTFE		Poly tetra fluoro ethylene This is PTFE improved with slight Perfluoro modification, used as a diaphragm bellows lining material. APV is a product based on New-PTFE and optimized as an ideal material for Sheet Lining using a patented process.

PTFE		Poly tetra fluoro ethylene This is conventional PTFE.

NEW-PFA		Perfluoro alkoxyl alkane-Polymer This is highly purified PFA with surface smoothness. Widely used material in semi-conductor manufacturing.

PFA		Perfluoro alkoxyl alkane-Polymer This is a conventional PFA.

Teflon		Trade name of DU PONT-MITSUI FULUOROCHEMICALS, COMPANY, LTD.

DAIKIN-PTFE		Trade name of Daikin Industries, Ltd.

DAIKIN-NEOFLON		Trade name of Daikin Industries, Ltd.

Fluoropolymer Linings Types

Sheet Lining		Lining sheet is adhered to the base item. Joints are sealed by welding work.

Mold Lining		The polymer is cast directly into the base material. Used for the small parts such as valves and TEE.

Loose Lining		Lining sheet or tube is inserted into the base item without adhesive.

Roto Lining		Vessel with polymer powder inside is rotated inside an oven to create a coating. (rotating molding, PE, PFA, ETFE, etc.) Top coat is necessary to prevent metal elution.

Roto Mould		Roto Lining Technique with metal mold. PE, PFA and ETFE. Used for some of the small containers for semiconductor manufacturing. It performs poorly under negative pressure and is easily permeated.

Adhesive for Lining

Rubber Adhesive		Elasticity of rubber insolates from both temperature and impact.

Epoxy Adhesive		It is superior for high heat and corrosive chemicals but does not insolate from either temperature or impact. It is usually used for high temperature.
